FAQ
Making decisions about orthodontics care is rarely easy, but the process is simplified when patients feel informed and confident about available treatment options. To help you learn more about Aligners, here are responses to our most frequently asked questions.
How Long Will the aligners Treatment Take?
The treatment time varies depending on the severity of the orthodontic situation. However, the treatment time is typically shorter than treatment with braces and generally lasts 6-18 months.
How Often Do I Have to Wear My Aligners?
You’ll have to wear your aligners 22-24 hours a day. You can remove your aligners for eating, cleaning your teeth, or any special occasions.
Will I Feel Any Discomfort?
With each new tray, you may feel some minor pressure or discomfort as your teeth are shifting toward their intended positions.
Are There Any Restrictions on What I Can Eat During Treatment?
Because you’ll remove your aligners before you eat, there will be no restrictions on what you can eat. However, you will need to clean your aligners before putting them in after a meal.
How Do I Keep My Aligners Clean?
We recommend brushing them with a toothbrush and then rinsing them with lukewarm water.
Will Wearing the Aligners Affect My Speech?
Like with any other orthodontic treatment, there will be a short adjustment period where your speech may be affected. However, the more you speak with them in, the faster you’ll adjust to them.
How Often Will I Need to See an Orthodontist During Treatment?
You’ll likely need to have an appointment every 4-6 weeks to map progress.
Will I Need to Wear Retainers Afterward?
Just like with all other forms of orthodontic treatment, you’ll be required to wear retainers afterward. These will ensure your teeth don’t shift back and you can maintain a healthy bite.
